The Electromagnetic Systems Interest Group (EMSIG), a.k.a. the UK Radar Society, is pleased to announce two days of meetings kindly hosted in the heart of the Scottish capital by the University of Edinburgh and the SPADS CDT (EPSRC and MoD Centre for Doctoral Training in Sensing, Processing, and AI for Defence and Security) as follows:
1. The 2025 Annual Symposium will take place on Tuesday, 2nd September in the Playfair Library and the Usha Kasera lecture theatre, both within Old College, University of Edinburgh, South Bridge, Edinburgh EH8 9YL.

The scope of the Annual Symposium is to give attendees
(i) a high-level view of UK radar activity and opportunities through a series of invited talks by leading radar practitioners and
(ii) the opportunity to learn about current research through a large and vibrant poster session.
We also hold a vote for members of the Steering Committee.
We invite submissions of posters (A1 portrait format) from industry, government and academia, and there will be a Poster Prize for the best poster from a PhD student.
2. The MODEST Focus Group (Modern trends in short and medium range sensing) meeting will be on Wednesday, 3rd September in the Bessie Watson lecture theatre in the Outreach Centre, 9c Holyrood Road, Edinburgh, EH8 8JW, which is just a short walk from Old College.

The scope of this focus group is to bring together academics, industrialists, and potential end-users working on the development of radar technologies intended to provide sensing and, ultimately, situational awareness, at short ranges, from tens of cm to ranges on the order of a kilometre.
We invite submissions of presentations (~15-20 mins) and posters (A1 portrait format) from industry, government and academia.
Please register your participation using the EventBrite form below by Friday 15th August – this is a one-off hard deadline and there will be no extension as catering has to be booked.
